Im climbing a digital volcano. 150bpm is a nice place for that. Zwift is working . Criminal how it works perfectly on an iPad without any extra apps, but total crap on a PC needing extras to link things up.

I got heavy. The wife’s illness recovery and my injuries/procedures this year have kept me off a bike for 10 months. Living in Colorado, that deviant behavior   would have landed me in court!

So let’s see if I can be 20 lighter by spring. When I was 40 I did 35 in 8 months but I was a touch agressive .....eh, we’ll see.

Thanks for reminding me that I neglected to ride tonight...

I like zwift a bunch though, way better than just riding a trainer. I do feel like $15/month is a bit excessive, but the alternatives aren’t any better in pricing or experience.

I’m in the same boat. I already have a trainer which I connected to a PC, but I never had a dedicated box, so it really didn’t get much use. I’m going to have to figure out another option. I’m really not interested in buying a new trainer when I already have one collecting dust. What other options did you consider before selecting Zwift?

Dedicated box? iPad just works if you have one. I’m I’m sure any other Droid tablet with decent Bluetooth should also work well.

Zwift was it. There wasn't any other thing at the time when I started it. It's what I know and what works for what I have.

I liked it a while lot at $10/mo.... But 15 is good if I used it a bunch. The price will remind me to make use of it

You don’t really need a new trainer. Zwift will work with power meters, and less well with cadence sensors. So worst case if you have a “dumb” trainer, you slap a cheap cadence sensor on there (you might also need a Bluetooth or ANT+ dongle for your computing device ).

It is of course tempting to get a controllable trainer, but you definitely don’t need one.

I tried Rouvy as well, but didn’t work as well for me, I’m too slow for their videos, so things are a bit weird, and their maps have way, way fewer people, which means fewer options for pacing, pushing yourself, etc.

That looks fun, but the whole subscription thing kills it for me. A ll I have are rollers anyway, but trying not to crash is kinda fun in and of itself I guess.

I’ll check on my trainer’s capabilities when I get back home. Looks like I have some research to do before jumping in!

The trainer I bought (so many years ago) came with PC-only software and while it worked fine on my laptop, setting it up every time was one more deterrent. End result? My trainer doesn’t have many rides on it.

Now that I own an iPad, that will be an option for the updated setup.

Yeah, I don’t use the software that came with mine at all.

all zwift needs is cadence and heart rate. i got a good and cheap $20 cadence sensor that runs via bluetooth and ant+ and theres inexpensive heartrate monitors that work on bluetooth as well. All you need. Trainer can be dumb dumb
